The challenge for the Australian Jockey Club
(hereafter referred to as the AJC) is to transform the historic racing icon, Royal Randwick Racecourse, into a premier racing and recreational entity, provide the best use of racing facilities, respond to the sites
heritage significance and ensure long term
economic viability.
Since 2005, the AJC has undertaken a range of strategic planning studies to guide the future
development of Royal Randwick Racecourse. These studies culminated in the production of a Master Plan. The Master Plan provides a blue print for the future development and upgrade of the racecourse. The key elements of the Master Plan are recognised in the Royal Randwick Racecourse Development Control Plan adopted by Randwick City Council on the 5th June 2007. |
The AJC through its staged implementation of the Master Plan will ensure that all new development at Royal Randwick Racecourse will:

Improve the standard and efficiency of existing equine and spectator facilities.
